In this building, which remains, the shop on the left was White House Wools for many years. It has since been a book shop, a video shop and Tan-n-Go, a tanning parlour.
The second was A H Rogers confectioner; it changed regularly, becoming H F Witt, A E Brooker and L Davis, all confectioners. It is now La Cafe Creme.
The third shop was S Deering, Florist, then Alice Clark, also a florist. The fourth was O T Hawes, boot repairs. In the early 1970's Alice Clark expanded by taking over the fourth shop. This combined shop became Harpers Hair for Men, and later Dodgers unisex hairdresser.
