This shows the new block on the site of the Wayside cafe, Chad Taxis and Simmonds.
The extreme left part became Midland Bank (now HSBC).
Woolworths was in place, this later became a homecare supermarket, and later the Co-op.
The sloping-fronted part in the centre became Fine Fare supermarket, then Liptons, then the Co-op, and has now been divided to form Priceless discount store and Birchington Fabrics.
The part 'To Let' on the right is now Jon's dry cleaners
